Vegan Hawaiian Pork Bowl (using Gardein)
This is a simple idea using Gardein’s Sweet & Sour Pork-less bites. This is such an easy meal prep option and makes two large servings or three small services.
Ingredients:
1 bag of defrosted Gardein Sweet & Sour Porkless bites (sauce comes inside)
— Find where they sell Gardein near you (https://www.gardein.com/beefless-and-porkless/classics/sweet-and-sour-porkless-bites)
1 cup of white rice (or rice of choice)
1 half of a large red bell pepper (1 cup)
1 cup diced pineapple
1/2 cup red onion
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tsp garlic powder
Optional:
Black sesame seeds
Green Onion
Lets Get Started:
First be sure that the bag of Vegan Pork-less bites are defrosted!
Step 1: Start by cooking the rice. Given that each rice package has separate instructions be sure to follow what your rice package says.
Step 2: While the rice is cooking; dice the bell pepper, pineapple and red onion into squares, as shown above.
Step 3: Turn the stove to medium heat and add the oil, onion, pineapple and bell pepper. Let this sauté for 4 minutes while stirring occasionally.
Step 4: Drop the heat to low and mix in the garlic powder.
Step 5: Add the Pork-less bites from the Gardein package and cook for an additional 1 minute. After this minute is up, turn the heat back up to medium.
Step 6: Add the sweet & sour sauce pack and cook for an additional 3 minutes. The sauce will begin to thicken and bubble up.
Step 7: Add the rice to a bowl or meal prep container and top it with the cooked “pork,” mixture. Viola! we are finished!
