Easy Flavorful Jackfruit Tacos
I created this simple recipe from random items I had in my cupboard one day that actually ended up tasting so flavorful and delicious.
When you go to vegan restaurants they always have tasty jackfruit. When I used to make it at home I’d just toss some taco seasoning on it and call it a day. It made the jackfruit decent but not worthy enough to eat on its own. Finally, I figured out a mixture that feels like I'm dining out.
First lets dive into the jackfruit before the taco toppings for those who just want some easy tasty jackfruit. You can use this jackfruit recipe for tacos, chipotle bowls and even stews.
Step 1:
Drain and pat dry the jackfruit. Use your hands to pull a part the chunks into smaller pieces.
Step 2:
In a sauté pan, heat any oil over medium heat (high heat oil preferred like grape seed or vegetable oil). Drop in your tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce stirring it together.
Step 3:
Once the pan is warm add jackfruit and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
Step 4:
Add the taco seasoning and sauté for another 1-2 minutes or until desired texture.
VIOLA! We are all done and it only took 10 minutes of your day.
I personally love this in taco bowls or on tacos, but it pairs well with basically anything.
Now lets dive into the toppings for the perfect taco! I make a fresh pineapple salsa and add “Follow Your Heart” feta which takes this jackfruit to the next level. Please note, I am one of the few that hates cilantro…. so I do not add it into this combo but feel free to add it to yours!
