The best part about this is that you do not need to bake anything from scratch. This is an idea that I came up with from a simple pre-made option BUT all dazzled up. You can add these in any cute heart shaped plastic container, v-day gift boxes, etc.

These are cinnamon rolls using the Trader Joe’s pre made cinnamon rolls. The twist is that we are going to take the circles and create a heart shape, add red die to the frosting to get a pink color and top it with edible roses!!

What you’ll need:

  • Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Rolls (comes with vanilla icing)

  • Red Food Coloring (make sure its vegan)

  • Edible Roses (I got mine off amazon and they came in one day)

by the way these are well worth the purchase if you like rose in your lattes, at home coffee, tea, etc.

  • Cooking spray or oil for the bottom of a baking dish

  • Baking sheet or glass (I used a circular shaped one below)

  • Cinnamon (optional to sprinkle on-top)

Disclaimer: I do not make any money off this link and I am not affiliated with Amazon or the seller. It

Since I got too excited and ripped the package right open before taking a photo I grabbed one from whatsgoodattraderjoes.com so you can see the exact package. As you can see, they do not say “vegan,” but they are indeed “accidentally vegan.”

Step 1: If you purchased Trader Joe’s firs turn the oven on to 350 F to warm the oven up as we prep the cinnamon rolls. If you purchased a different branch just follow your instructions on the back.

Step 2: Unwrap the cinnamon rolls and use a sharp knife to cut down each line indented on the roll.

Step 3: This part may be hard to understand unless you have a visual. So I have taken some photos to demonstrate but if this is not enough, feel free to check out my Tik Tok video with easier visuals!

As you can see from the images you are going to unravel half of the cinnamon roll and roll it back up creating two circles. You will then shape the bottom into a V shape. They may look different each time but it will look good once baked, I promise!

Step 4: Add cooking spray or a dash of oil to the bottom of your baking sheet and then place them, into a circle (if you have a circle tray- if not, place them anywhere).

  • Note: the container will say they need to be placed inches a part but I purposely wanted them pressed together so that when they were finished baking it would look more of a cake with multiple heart shapes, opposed to them being super spread out. If you do decide to squish them together like me, you may just need to bake for an additional 5 minutes.

Step 5: Sprinkle cinnamon to the top. This will not only add additional flavor but it creates brown little speckles on the top after they are done baking. Place the tray into the oven (follow package instructions for duration of time cooked).

Step 6: Once they are done baking add the vanilla frosting to a tiny bowl and add 1 dot of red food coloring. This will create a pink color opposed to red. If you want it a tad darker just add 1 more.

Heart shaped fluffy cinnamon rolls baked with brown cinnamon sprinkles and gooey prink frosting. They are also topped with tiny pink edible roses.

Step 7: Sprinkle the edible roses on top and VIOLA!

Now you have tasty heart shaped cinnamon rolls and can wrap them in a heart shaped gift box, food container or wrap them as is. This is such a cute and easy idea for a loved one.. especially if they are vegan and you can’t find any vegan chocolate boxes. This is even better!!
