Vegan P.F Chang’s Lettuce Wraps

If you’ve been to P.F Chang’s I knoooow you know how good the chicken lettuce wraps are! These are just as good and VEGAN!

The first thing you’ll want to note is that I used to the Trader Joe’s Vegan Turkey Patties because the color is similar to chicken. BUT, before these patties came out I used to use the Trader Joe’s Beef-less Beef which also worked perfectly.

I will insert a photo of both individual “meat” options at the end of this recipe.

LETS GET STARTED!

Step 1: Dice the white onion, Jicama (alternative and easier option is canned water chestnuts but you wont get the same crunch), ginger and garlic (if your are using fresh- but as you can see i’m lazy).

Step 2: Add the the Turkey Patties, onion, ginger, Jicama (or water chestnuts) and garlic to a pan and cook it on medium heat for 4-5 minutes. The Turkey patties tend to be a bit sticky so as you break it a part with your spatula let it sit for about a minute before you can fully break a part the rest.

Step 3: After the 5 minutes of sautéing (prior step), add the rice vinegar, sesame oil and soy sauce and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes; or until the patties are charred. Continue breaking the pieces up as small as you can. This will allow all of the flavors to absorb better.

Step 5: Once the “Turkey” looks a bit more brown and fully cooked- we’re ready to assemble!

Step 6: Grab your butter lettuce and add the mixture on top. If the butter lettuce feels a little flimsy, go ahead and use two pieces.

Step 7: Dice your green onions and top off your lettuce wraps! I also added sesame seeds but this is completely optional and will not change the outcome of this meal!

aaand Viola! Now you have your very own P.F Chang lettuce wraps VEGANIZED. As I noted above, if Trader Joe’s is out of the Turkey Patties you can opt for their Beef-less beef. The reason I use both of these meat alternatives opposed to other brands is because they do not have any additional added flavors onto the meat- making it easy to absorb the flavors in this asian style dish. Here are both outcomes of using the Trade Joe’s Turkey patties (1st photo) vs Beef-less beef (1st photo):

Last thing, if you’d like a refreshing side dish- refer to the second photo and slice cucumbers. Add white vinegar with a dash of soy sauce and if you like spice; then add a splash of chili paste! You wont regret it.
