Trader Joe’s Vegan Essentials (veganuary week one)

I wanted to create a little guide of some vegan items that I believe to be essential for an easy vegan transition. These are just the basics!

If you are looking for the best vegan/non-dairy alternatives check out my previous post:

Now lets dive into the Trader Joe’s essentials. Honestly, these are the items that I needed the MOST when I first went vegan. I vividly remember that anytime I thought of an idea… I couldn’t make it cause I was missing a few of the items on this list. Over the years Trader Joe’s has come out with even more essentials that I grab every time I pop in. These items do not include the basics like beans, grains, pastas, etc. These are just a few must haves:

  • Miscellaneous

    • Earth Balance Vegan Butter

    • Trader Joe’s Chicken-less seasoning

    • Nutritional Yeast (essential for B12)

    • Spicy Miso Soup

    • Non Dairy Milk

(get anything but almond milk.. almond milk is water compared to oat and soy milk which are tastier options as they are thicker and have better taste)

  • Meatless alternatives:

    • Trader Joe’s Beef-less Beef or Impossible Meat

(note: the trader joe’s brand is near all the vegan options while the impossible beef is next to the real meat)

    • Soyrizo (currently sold out near me so it is not photo’d)

  • Easy frozen meals:

    • Tikka Masala

    • Vegetable Gyoza

  • Canned Goods

    • Greek Chickpeas w/ Parsley & Cumin

(there are obviously plenty of basic canned foods to choose from but this is a must have as they have so much flavor and are versatile for bowls, curry, etc.)

  • Chips

    • Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips (similar to Takis)

    • Jalapeno Corn & Rice Puffs

  • Sweets

    • Go Macro Protein Bars (peanut butter & chocolate chip)

    • Vegan chocolate chip cookies (they also have oatmeal)

    • Vegan banana bread (not photo’d)

    • Vegan Mochi mango flavor (not photo’d)

Please keep in mind that this list does not entail the basic food necessities like beans, tofu, tempeh, pasta, grains, rice, etc. These are just additional essentials and specific vegan alternatives to switch out animal based options. These are the items that I always reach for and hopefully they help you kill your cravings!
